Government has legal authority to raise public-sector pay this year, committee member says
Fatemi, a member of parliament’s social affairs committee, said the government has legal authority to increase public-sector salaries this year. He said an unwritten agreement between the government and parliament provides for salaries to rise twice a year. He also said a 20% pay increase does not meet people’s needs.
