Aryeh Deri to give up Knesset seat while remaining Shas chairman
Shas chairman Aryeh Deri says he will give up his Knesset seat, make way for younger MKs and tour the country to rebuild ties with the party’s base, activists and the public. With the Council of Torah Sages’ approval, he will remain chairman and continue leading weekly faction meetings and overseeing its parliamentary work. The announcement comes a week after the council instructed him to continue leading the movement.
