U.S. officials expect immigration crackdown to continue after midterms, citing Miller's promotion

U.S. officials speaking anonymously said the Trump administration is unlikely to scale back its immigration crackdown after the midterm elections, citing Stephen Miller's elevation to White House chief of staff. They said DHS and ICE had received no instructions to reduce enforcement since the election. Agency sources said ICE's arrest target rose before the midterms to around 19,000 per week from 2,000 per day, while White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis said arrest and deportation efforts would not slow.
