Japan’s Takaichi outlines care-worker pay and recruitment measures
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said Japan is implementing a fiscal 2026 mid-cycle revision to care-service fees to improve worker compensation, ahead of the regular fiscal 2027 review. She cited projections that about 2.72 million care workers will be needed in fiscal 2040, compared with about 2.13 million employed in fiscal 2024. She also outlined efforts to reduce workloads through technology and attract more people into care work.
