Mazandaran agriculture chief warns of spreading water salinity linked to groundwater overuse
The head of Mazandaran’s agricultural organization said assessments show excessive groundwater use has made advancing water salinity a serious problem across parts of the Iranian province. The official also said high-yield rice varieties occupy less than 28% of the province’s 230,000 hectares of rice fields.
