Astellas executive jailed in China on espionage charges expected to be released in December
An executive at Japanese drugmaker Astellas’s Chinese subsidiary is expected to be released in mid-December when his prison term expires. He was arrested in China in March 2023 on charges including espionage and sentenced to three years and six months in prison in July 2025. Sources expect him to be deported immediately after his release.
