South Korea sets 3.9 billion won government budget proposal for free workplace-injury legal aid

The Korea Workers’ Compensation and Welfare Service announced that the government’s 2027 budget proposal includes 3.9 billion won for free legal representation in workplace-injury compensation cases. Starting March 30, 2027, eligible workers and survivors covered by industrial accident insurance with average monthly earnings below 3 million won will be able to obtain help from lawyers or certified labor consultants. Support covers occupational-disease benefit and survivor-benefit claims and challenges to decisions, with representation costs paid by the state.
