South Korea to waive broker collateral-maintenance requirements through January 31

South Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service announced it will issue no-action letters waiving securities firms’ collateral-maintenance obligations for credit lending through January 31, 2027, with issuance starting November 9. During the waiver, firms can adjust collateral-maintenance ratios to market conditions. The measure is intended to ease concerns about a surge in forced liquidations following a sharp stock-market decline.
