South Korean defense committee chair says U.S. reaffirmed conditions-based wartime command transfer
South Korea’s parliamentary defense committee chair, Jin Sung-joon, said U.S. officials reaffirmed that the existing agreement on conditions-based transfer of wartime operational control remains unchanged. Briefing reporters on his U.S. visit, he also said officials explained that postponing the bilateral Security Consultative Meeting until next year reflected military leaders’ scheduling availability, not differences over the transfer.
