Israel’s president to task opposition leader Eisenkot with forming government
Israeli President Herzog said he would designate Eisenkot, leader of the opposition party Yashar and a former military chief, to form a government. The formal designation is planned for November 8, after which Eisenkot will have up to 42 days to conclude coalition negotiations. The opposition camp remains divided, and the talks are expected to be difficult.
