A study commissioned by the National Health Insurance Service found that long-term care insurance beneficiaries aged 75 and over increased from 411,000 in 2014 to 1.123 million in 2024, while their benefit costs rose from 3.103 trillion won to 13.733 trillion won. This age group accounted for about 85% of beneficiaries and spending in 2024.
