Israel's Herzog to task former military chief Eisenkot with forming government
Israeli President Herzog announced that he would task Eisenkot, the former military chief and leader of the centrist Yashar party, with forming a government on November 8. Eisenkot, who leads the camp opposing Prime Minister Netanyahu, had received nominations from 67 of parliament's 120 members. Neither the prime minister's camp nor its opponents won a majority in the October 27 election.
