U.S. Central Command announces task force to block weapons shipments through Iran’s land borders
U.S. Central Command said commander Brad Cooper ordered the launch of Task Force Iron Gate to disrupt weapons and sanctioned shipments through Iran’s land borders. The unit will be based in Tampa, Florida, with about 20 military and civilian personnel. Working with other U.S. agencies, it will target movements of advanced weapons, dual-use technology, sanctioned goods and illicit proceeds through Iran’s land borders and the Caspian Sea.
