Lagarde says December rate decision remains data-dependent as euro-area inflation hits 4%
European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde expects inflation to remain elevated over the coming quarters but says she cannot yet commit to a December interest-rate move. She said the bank had not seen second-round effects exceeding its forecasts or changes in multiyear wage agreements and corporate wage expectations. Euro-area headline inflation rose to 4% in October, while core inflation remained at 2.5%, unchanged from September.
