Gyeonggi semiconductor cities forecast up to nearly 12-fold rise in 2027 corporate local income tax

Municipalities hosting semiconductor operations in South Korea’s Gyeonggi province expect corporate local income tax receipts to rise by up to nearly 12 times in 2027 amid strong Samsung Electronics and SK hynix earnings. Estimated receipts from Samsung are 1.8 trillion won for Hwaseong, 1.6 trillion for Pyeongtaek, 1.3 trillion for Suwon and 740 billion for Yongin; Icheon expects 2 trillion won from SK hynix. The municipalities plan to fund road and rail infrastructure and set aside some additional revenue to prepare for future semiconductor downturns.
