Italy has not chosen between Spanish and Dutch candidates for ECB president

Italy has not yet chosen between the Spanish and Dutch candidates to succeed Christine Lagarde as European Central Bank president, officials from Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's office said Friday. Spain has nominated Pablo Hernandez de Cos, general manager of the Bank for International Settlements, while the Netherlands has proposed former central bank chief Klaas Knot. The officials said the government had no favourite and was assessing both nominations.
