NATO's Rutte said he understood European alarm over a U.S.-Russia diesel deal and had himself raised an eyebrow. He said Europe bought €6 billion worth of Russian LNG in the first half of the year, arguing that this exceeded what the diesel deal would ever generate and that Europe was "not innocent either."
