Taiwan ends spot LNG purchases from Papua New Guinea and plans office closure, citing Chinese pressure
Taiwan's foreign ministry said it had stopped buying liquefied natural gas from Papua New Guinea on the spot market and would sign no new spot gas purchase contracts with the country. Taiwan also announced a decision to close its representative office in Port Moresby, blaming Chinese pressure. The ministry said Papua New Guinea had renewed demands for staff to leave the office within a set deadline and pushed for its closure.
