Two Polish policymakers say December interest-rate increase is possible

Polish Monetary Policy Council members Henryk Wnorowski and Marcin Zarzecki said an interest-rate increase could come in December to prevent second-round effects from higher fuel prices. Wnorowski expects a 25-basis-point increase in December or January, while Zarzecki said the chances of an increase early next year had risen significantly and did not rule out December. Their comments point to potentially earlier tightening than Governor Adam Glapinski’s indication of a likely increase in early 2027.
