Myanmar schedules April 4 by-elections in 55 constituencies, including conflict areas
Myanmar’s election commission announced by-elections for April 4, 2027, in 55 constituencies nationwide. The vote will fill vacancies left by lawmakers who took government posts and include some constituencies in Sagaing, Chin and Shan where civil conflict prevented voting in the previous general election. At least seven constituencies are in areas recently retaken by government forces; Rakhine, where fighting with the Arakan Army continues, is excluded.
