Japan adopts emergency cybersecurity package, allocates about ¥10 billion for immediate measures

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said the government adopted an emergency cybersecurity package and allocated about ¥10 billion in reserve funds for immediate measures. The package covers basic protections, information gathering and analysis, strategic responses, and victim support. The government aims to receive critical infrastructure operators’ attack reports within hours, or at least the same day, and will consider legal changes. Funding for the full package remains under discussion.
