Yamatane cuts annual operating-profit forecast to ¥100 million as rice discounting weighs

Rice wholesaler Yamatane cut its operating-profit forecast for the year ending March 2027 to ¥100 million, down 98% year on year and ¥4 billion below its previous estimate. Discounting weighed on earnings as inventories of high-cost rice from the 2025 harvest accumulated. The company now forecasts revenue of ¥86.4 billion and net profit of ¥3.5 billion, reductions of ¥12.1 billion and ¥900 million, respectively.
