ANC takes 31.94% in preliminary South African local election results
South Africa’s governing African National Congress has 31.94% of the vote in preliminary local election results, with 72% of votes counted. The Democratic Alliance is second with 24.76% and leads in six of the eight major metropolitan municipalities. Official results are scheduled for Sunday, with the absence of outright majorities in several key cities making local coalitions necessary.
