Chiba proposes ¥32.8 billion for disaster recovery in December supplementary budget

Japan’s Chiba Prefecture announced a proposed fiscal 2026 December supplementary budget allocating ¥32.8 billion to recovery from successive August–September wind and flood disasters. This includes ¥15.5 billion for roads, rivers and other infrastructure, alongside a new ¥200,000 payment for partially destroyed households outside the existing livelihood-rebuilding support scheme. The proposal also provides subsidies of up to ¥2 million per lodging facility for register-system upgrades and related preparations for an accommodation tax planned for September 2028. The general-account supplement totals ¥49.913 billion.
