China demands correction of Takaichi’s Taiwan remarks without repeating retraction call
China’s Foreign Ministry demanded that Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi promptly correct her parliamentary remarks on a Taiwan contingency, without repeating its previous call for their retraction. At a November 6 press conference, deputy spokesperson Guo Jiakun said bilateral relations faced serious difficulties and blamed Japan entirely. He described correcting what he called erroneous words and actions on Taiwan as the immediate priority.
