Belgium approves law allowing judge-authorised home searches for migrant deportations

Belgium's parliament approved a law allowing police to search the homes of people denied asylum who have ignored orders to leave and are considered a threat to public security. Searches require an investigative judge's approval, must take place between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m., and require immigration officials to be present. Human rights groups and lawyers oppose the legislation, arguing that it risks undermining constitutional rights and privacy laws.
