IEA expects emerging economies outside China to match advanced nations' renewable additions

Emerging and developing economies outside China are expected to match advanced economies in new renewable capacity for the first time over the next five years, the International Energy Agency said. Its annual outlook forecasts almost 4,800 gigawatts of global additions between 2026 and 2031, including about 1,100 GW each in those two groups and around 2,550 GW in China. Grid constraints are expected to slow growth in advanced economies.
