IEA forecasts 4,800 GW of global renewable capacity growth in 2026–2031
The International Energy Agency released its 2026 renewable energy report on November 6, forecasting roughly 4,800 gigawatts of global capacity additions during 2026–2031, a pace 57% faster than in 2020–2025. It projected that additions in emerging economies excluding China, including India, Southeast Asia and Africa, would match those in advanced economies for the first time over that six-year period.
