Sarawak sets December 12 state election amid push for greater autonomy
Malaysia’s Sarawak will hold a state election on December 12 as the incumbent government seeks a fresh mandate to pursue greater autonomy and control over natural resources. Election Commission chairman Ramlan Harun said nominations would begin on November 28 and early voting would take place on December 8. The commission said more than 2.05 million eligible voters would choose 82 assembly members, with campaigning ending on December 11.
