Japan’s October imported-car sales rise for third month as EV share reaches 19%
The Japan Automobile Importers Association reported that October imported-car sales, excluding Japanese brands, rose 0.5% year on year to 17,775 vehicles, marking a third consecutive monthly increase. EV sales rose 35% to 3,461, lifting their share by five percentage points to 19%. Tesla does not disclose domestic sales, but the Tesla-dominated “other” category rose 92% to 2,163 vehicles, estimated to represent about 60% of EV sales.
