South Korean judges’ representative council brings regular meeting forward to November 30

South Korea’s National Conference of Judicial Representatives announced that it would bring its regular meeting forward from December 7 to November 30. The council said the decision followed a November 4 member vote favoring the change and steering committee discussions. Yonhap reported that the move came amid growing calls within the judiciary to speak out against what judges described as ruling-party pressure on judicial independence.
