Food regulator proposes expanding reduced-sodium and reduced-sugar labeling to 223 food categories

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said it issued administrative notice of a proposed amendment expanding processed-food categories eligible for reduced-sodium and reduced-sugar labeling from 21 to 223. The proposal would cover all processed foods where reductions are possible, with exclusions including foods not subject to nutrition labeling, single-ingredient foods and foods governed by separate sodium- or sugar-related manufacturing standards.
