Gyeonggi announces stronger bird flu controls, restricting movement of 813,000 birds

Gyeonggi Province announced on November 6 that it was strengthening controls against highly pathogenic avian influenza. The province said it had culled 90,000 chickens at an affected laying-hen farm in Yeoncheon and was restricting movement of 813,000 birds at 17 farms within 10 kilometres, alongside testing and intensive disinfection. It also plans to expand disinfection and surveillance at 21 migratory-bird habitats and other high-risk areas.
