Chinese listed companies’ first-half profit margins lag global peers, Reuters analysis finds

Chinese listed companies recorded profit margins of 4.88% in the first six months, compared with 8.87% for global peers, according to a Reuters analysis of LSEG data. The analysis covered 5,209 Chinese companies and 9,733 elsewhere, each valued at least $100 million. Reuters attributed the gap to weak domestic consumer demand and yuan strength squeezing exporters’ margins.
