Rubio says Venezuela elections would ‘ideally’ be held next year, with reforms still needed
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Venezuela would “ideally” hold elections next year, but declined to guarantee a vote before President Trump leaves office. In an interview with The New York Times, he said Venezuela needs a new Supreme Court and electoral council, progress on debt restructuring and reforms to its security forces before elections can be held.
