Democrat Cait Conley defeated Representative Mike Lawler in New York’s 17th Congressional District, according to The Associated Press, flipping a seat Democrats had targeted in their effort to regain the House majority. Conley is an Army veteran and former Biden administration national security official. The race was called Thursday afternoon after ballot-processing problems in Westchester County delayed the counting of tens of thousands of votes.
