Qantas raises fares and doubles planned Australian flight cuts as fuel costs rise

Qantas said it is raising fares and will reduce flying in Australia by 4% in the first three months of 2027, double the 2% cut forecast in August. Both Qantas and its low-cost unit Jetstar are scaling back schedules. The airline now expects its fuel bill for the final six months of 2026 to reach A$3.75 billion, up from A$3.6 billion, and said demand remains resilient.
