Canada plans retail note offering in early 2027 to finance sovereign wealth fund
Canada’s government plans to launch principal-protected securities for retail investors in early 2027 to help finance the Canada Strong Fund, according to details released in its budget. The government will contribute C$25 billion and add proceeds from the notes, whose holders could participate in equity gains. The fund will invest only in Canada, including infrastructure projects and stakes in technology, artificial intelligence and other companies.
