Brazil plans critical-minerals rules prioritizing domestic rare-earth processing

Brazil's government plans new critical-minerals regulations that will prioritize domestic rare-earth processing rather than raw-material exports, three members of its new minerals council told Reuters. US investment will remain welcome, they said. Council member Eracy Lafuente said the government aims to present the regulations in the first few months of 2027, while the president's Chief of Staff Office confirmed work on the rules is under way.
