ANC at 31.7% in partial South African municipal election results
South Africa’s African National Congress had 31.7% support and the Democratic Alliance 26.3% with half the municipal election votes counted, according to Electoral Commission tallies published Thursday. The ANC won 45.6% in the 2021 municipal elections, but the report cautioned that early results are not always a reliable gauge because DA-leaning urban areas are usually counted first. Final results and seat allocations for 257 municipal councils are expected over the weekend.
